Fashion isn’t something I’ve always cared about. I’m one of those people that just wears what they like and what’s comfy. Which is usually some form of baggy t-shirt or jumper.
I’ve always hated the name ‘plus size’ and when I started to have to buy clothing in what was considered to be ‘plus size’ it really got to me.
I hated myself. I hated my body and in tern it just made things worse. I would punish myself by not eating food properly and working out which didn’t actually make the situation any better.
I’d wear really baggy clothes to hide my size – which actually just made me look even bigger and I hated not being covered up.
But the past few weeks I’ve been experimenting a bit with my clothes.
There are two reasons for this.
Firstly I’ve been meeting up with a lot more people and taking photos – which is why my Instagram is looking great at the moment if I do say so myself.
But also because I’ve changed my outlook and perspective on fashion by changing who I follow.
I’ve had my own mini Instagram cull recently and instead I’ve started following more mid-sized fashion bloggers.
And honestly it’s a breath of fresh air!
I wanted to share my favourites with you in the hope that they will also inspire anyone going through a though time.
Nicole is someone that I’ve only recently started following but I’m so glad I did. Her style is effortless but looks amazing on her. She’s colourful and isn’t afraid to try new things.
Lucy is someone I’ve subscribed to on YouTube for a long time now and I’ve always loved her. But recently she’s been making ‘average sized girl’ videos where she tries on outfits from different brands to show how sizes are bullshit! They’re hilarious videos but also help reassure women that their size doesn’t matter.
When you look at Chloe you might not consider her to be ‘mid-sized’ but mid-sized could be anything from a 10-16.
For me what I love about Chloe is her confidence. She’s not afraid to show her skin and her bravery and confidence have helped me to be confident in my own skin.
Immi’s fashion is basically what I want my wardrobe to look like. She make her outfits look comfy and effortless whilst still fitting in with current trends. What I love about her is that she’s so comfortable and relaxed in all her photos and they’re so candid.
Chloe is someone that I’ve been following for awhile but she didn’t really appear on my feed that much. I rediscovered her recently and I just love everything about her profile.
She’s a stylist for H&M so she clearly knows her stuff, and she just looks amazing in all her outfits.
This mid-sized fashion movement which is everywhere on social media is just what we need in society.
Women and men who are bigger than what’s expected of us from society, showing off their bodies, being confident in their own skin and living life.
It’s not just about seeing what type of clothes look good on different body types that I love. But the confidence that these bloggers possess.
It makes me realise that my body isn’t something I should hate but something I should be proud of. And sure I might not look as good as a model in my photos but I feel good and that’s what matters!
