Monthly chit chat: New year new me? Laptop cafe monthly chit chat

You have no idea how happy I am that it’s finally February 1st! I’ve ben counting down the days till payday since I was let loose on the Boxing Day sales.

Most people will talk about how fast they think January as gone and how they can’t believe that the first month of the new year is over already. Not me. Nope.

January for me has been so hectic and busy and it has dragged on and on. So much so I’m ready to accept the 28 day month that is February with open arms.

I feel like I need to catch you all up on what’s been going on in my life since the start of 2018.

You may have noticed that I had a little vay-cay to the South West of England to see those people who raised me. Urgh – only kidding.

It was actually really refreshing to have a change of scenery, have some me time away from Paul and catch up with old friends and family members I haven’t seen in a long time.

It also gave me a chance to rethink my plan for the year in terms of my blog and what I want out of it. You can be expecting a lot more personal content coming your way v. soon.

I hate the whole “new year new me” mantra that every Tom, Dick and Harry decided to adopt for those first few weeks of a new year. But alas there were a things that I needed to change so I guess you could say I succumbed to the cliche.

Firstly I needed a hair cut – I was starting to look like a disheveled lion in the mornings. But now I look like a slightly less disheveled lion with a spring coat. new haircut beauty style personal portrait

Secondly knew I needed to address the elephant in the room which was my complete and utter lack of a decent waterproof coat. Turns out Manchester is just as wet as Cornwall in the winter months.

Sadly though due to payday issues – see above – I’m still clutching onto my umbrella and denim jacket.

Finally the biggest change of all this year is to my overall motivation. I love my blog and side projects but sometimes things get in the way which means they take a backseat.

I’ve made it my mission to not let my blog take a backseat this year, and in preparation for this I’ve got some exciting ideas to keep it in the forefront of my mind.

That’s right. It’s time to get serious.

I’m continuing with my blog schedule of 2 posts a week (most likely Mondays and Thursdays). This will include a lot more personal posts from me like this one.

Some more #relatable content ,like this one, because that’s what real-life lifestyle blogging is all about.

But also more real-life blogging talking about important issues, things that others are too scared to talk about and topics that we all need to be reminded about every so often – like why it’s important to take a break.

Most of all though my goal this year is to step up the formatting of my blog posts – which may or may not include a new blog design (hopefully coming when I get paid) and better photography.

Which leads me onto my final “new me” point.

I’ve bought a camera! After using my old iPhone 5s to take all my photos and Instagram shots over the past 2 and a bit yet I’ve finally invested in a camera.

This will hopefully give me the chance to really explore the world of photography and get into it a lot more than I have done in the past – whilst also upping my Instagram game.

But overall I’m just happy January is over! Bring on the 11 other months of the year please.
