Let’s face it. Paul and I are self-proclaimed TV bingers and movie marathoners. We find a good series and it’s all we watch until it’s over. Sadly this means that there have been a lot of series we’ve watched that have broken our hearts when we got to that final ever episode.
When Panasonic asked me to create a list of my “forever series” inspired by their new HD Televisions I couldn’t say no. I live for binge-able TV series, so picking some that I’d want to last forever really wasn’t that hard!
I knew I had to start with House. Hugh Laurie is an amazing actor and I don’t think there was a single episode of House that I didn’t like.
It’s witty, insightful, charming whilst at the same time educational – after two seasons Paul started adding his own doctor commentary as to what he thought the illness was or wasn’t.
With 8 seasons and over 170 episodes it kept us entertained for well over a year. But it sadly came to an end – which I personally feel should have never happened. Can we start a petition to bring it back please!
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS
Ok I admit that this one Paul never watched. But it’s what got me through the week when we we’re together and I wasn’t allowed to carry on with the other series we were watching.
I have to admit I didn’t start watching it until well into the hype – mainly because I was scared that it would be far too jumpy for me. I was right and it was far too jumpy for my liking but I stuck with it.
It’s now one of my favourite series ever and I’m jus praying that there will be some sort of reunion in a few years.
I know that the series as a whole isn’t over but I don’t know how I’m going to cope when it is. Cillian Murphy is my new heart-throb crush and the story line is just on point!
When it comes to series a gangster, 1920’s BBC drama isn’t something I would instantly jump to but wow! The BBC really have out done themselves with this one.
I’m just crossing my fingers that when it does end it won’t break my heart as much as I’m expecting it to.
Before you all start commenting about my Stranger Things mug in the above photo I have no idea where it’s from – most likely Amazon I imagine – as it was a secret Santa present.
As you can tell though from the mug though, I’m a bit of a fan – just a little…
Although we’ve already been told this isn’t going to be one of those 7 season series, I can’t help but feel like there is so much more potential for this series.
Season 1 and 2 were both brilliant so we can only hope that the other few will be just as good, if not better.
Hey look, it’s another BBC drama.
If you had told me back in the day when I was a Doctor Who fan who refused to watch Sherlock when it first came out, that it would be one of my favourite series to date, I’d tell you where to go.
But honestly although there are such few episodes in each season it is by far the most thrilling, thought-provoking, hanging on the edge of the sofa series I’ve ever seen.
There have been rumours for years about this series starting up again but we can only hope.
RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE
Although All Stars is back on our screens this month and there is no doubt there will be more series to come in the future – or at least I hope, this is my go to guilty pleasure series.
I could lay in bed for hours singing Covergirl along with Ru, waiting for Michelle’s critiques and praying that my favourite wins the lip sync.
I love this as a competition series as it’s like nothing else on TV and it celebrates so much diversity whilst being open to people from different walks of life – something I feel TV can be lacking at times.
Sadly nothing can last forever – mainly because we get old or get bored and want something new to watch. But there will always be those classics we can’t get enough of.
I’d love to know what series you wish could last forever – it might inspire me to check them out.
