Finding my feet in fashion

Oh hey there. Don’t mind me. Just posing awkwardly in an alleyway with lots of people walking past staring at me because I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing!

I think it’s safe to say I’m not going to turn into a fashion blogger anytime soon.

The truth is I’d love to be one of those Insta goals fashion bloggers, wearing bright colours, brand new coats every week and getting designer bags in the post but it’s not going to happen.

Not because I can’t be a fashion blogger, but more because I don’t want to.

I have nothing against fashion or beauty bloggers – heck I think a lot of them a bloody fantastic, but fashion just isn’t my thing.

If you’ve been on this blog before then you might notice that I’ve since removed the fashion and beauty section.

This isn’t because I’m not going to be talking about these things in the future but more because this isn’t something that defines me – so why should it be a defining feature on my blog?

I love buying new clothes, don’t get me wrong I can happily spend all of my money on ASOS. But I’m not going to go jumping in head first for that jacket that everyone is wearing, or a designer handbag.

I’ve been there and done that. I’ve worn the shorts and tights that don’t look right on my, I’ve tried to whole pinafore dress that makes me hate my body shape. And to be perfectly honest with you I don’t want to do it again.

It’s taken me a lot of time to come to terms that those styles and trends that we get sold into every season just isn’t for me.

I don’t want painful shoes, impractical coats and tops that make my belly and boobs pop out. This ever-changing fashion thing just isn’t for me.

Why should I have to wear what every Tom, Dick and Harry are saying it’s what you should be wearing.

I’d much rather be comfy and basic in my leggings and oversized jumper. I might not look high-fashion, or sexy or photogenic, but I’m being myself. Surely that’s what matters right.

There is no point pretending to be someone who you’re not. Who cares if you don’t match everyone else on Instagram, or look “cool” or “edgy”. Just be you because there is only one you out there.

  1. “There is no point pretending to be someone who you’re not. Who cares if you don’t match everyone else on Instagram, or look “cool” or “edgy”. Just be you because there is only one you out there.” – Love love love this! Great post! 💕 ❤️
Just like you, I tried to wear what other people are wearing, but simply hated it or had to accept that it just did not suit me at all, but who cares? You’re so right in saying that we should not try and be like others! Why should we let a trend or other people define what we wear or like? Besides, you look stunning in all your photos, so there’s really no need for you to follow a trend anyway!! ✨
