Monthly Chit Chat: Feeling merry

JustEmmi Christmas Festive Snowman Jumper Tree

Before I get into this month’s chit chat post I want to reassure you that it won’t all be about Christmas, and how it’s officially acceptable to wear Christmas jumpers and sing Christmas songs. Despite what you might think from the title.

But it is the first of December which means I’m feel very festive, wearing my Christmas jumper for the first time and playing festive tunes all day.

With the majority of my Christmas shopping done though there isn’t much left for me to do with regards to Christmas. Accept find an outfit for our work party, and buy some festive bedding to make our flat feel in tune with the season.

But the real reason for my merry mood isn’t Christmas (although that helps) but it’s because of some very wonderful things that have been happening the past month.

If you didn’t see my previous post then you won’t be aware that this little space on the interest turned 1. That’s right happy blogiversary to me.

It’s hard to even comprehend that I’ve been at this for over a year now. Writing down all my thoughts and feelings for you all to read over and comment on. Let alone the fact that there are now more than 300 of you doing so!

I’ve always loved writing and blogging has really helped me to come out of my shell, learn a lot about the world of influencers and give me the confidence to pursue non-traditional forms of work.

Heck, if it wasn’t for understanding WordPress so much from JustEmmi, I wouldn’t have even started The Growing Up Guide.

The month of November also included a lot of realisations for me, from coming to terms with the fact that I’ve put on a stone or two since leaving university, to realising the importance of those near and dear to me.

Life is far to short to have people in your life who you don’t need, but also too short to waste time trying to catch up with those you’ve let stray.

You hear so many stories this time of year of people being on their own and lonely, and although I have Paul I do still feel a bit friend-less here in Manchester.

This is why I’ve ben trying to make a real effort to see my university friends more often. Whether it’s a quick coffee stop or a whole day shopping.

I’ve even had a few days out with a fellow MCR blogger which has really helped to lift my spirits.

November in general has had its ups and downs, but I’m finishing it merry and with a smile on my face.

I know I promised this post wouldn’t be about Christmas but I do have to mention a few things that are coming up in December.

The first is hopefully another trip to the Manchester Christmas Markets – although Alice and I went the other week I want to go again because who doesn’t love hot chocolate and mini pancakes!

With regards to the blog don’t expect me to be doing “blogmas”, but instead I will be posted 5 Christmas themed posts in the run up to the big day.

If you’re itching for those festive posts though had over to The Growing Up Guide where we are posting them pretty much every other day, including some fun festive giveaways.

I may have a thing or two up my sleeve for the coming New Year so watch this space. But for now I just want to enjoy my first Christmas with Paul in our own home.

Happy December!

Life is definitely too short for people you don’t need and don’t contribute positively to your life, I’ve learnt that a lot over recent years and whilst I may now only have a handful of friends, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.

I need to get to a Christmas market asap!!
