I hate starting new month posts off in the really cliche “oh my god how is it (insert month here)” way but oh my god how is it October! I swear it was June a minute ago.
As I get older it feels like he year are going by quicker and quicker – before I know it I’ll be cashing in my pension (if there is one when I reach 70).
This year has been jam packed for me with moving in with Paul, finishing university, getting a new job and completely changing my lifestyle and up rooting myself to Manchester. But with only 3 months left until the end of 2017 there are a few things I feel like I need to tick off my list.
FINISH A BOOK
Ok I know I’ve been saying this all year but I am determined to finish at least one book in 2017! I have no idea what’s happened to me. I used to get through a book a day at one point and now it’s taking me a whole year to even finish one.
I’ve got a few on the go at the moment but I’ve just never got time to read them. There is where operation Thursday book night needs to come in. When I’ve got the house to myself all evening I need to pick up that book and put down that TV remote.
GO FOR AFTERNOON TEA
Did you know that I’m obsessed with brunch and tea? No? Well where have you been! Anybody who knows me knows that I can’t go through the day without a brew, and scones and cake just make it all that much sweeter.
I’ve been wanting to go for afternoon tea for so long now. Especially as I now live in Manchester and there are so many places with raving reviews for their afternoon tea service. Plus it’s also an excuse to see some friends.
VISIT MY FAMILY
Due to living away from home for university and then moving straight to Manchester once I graduated I haven’t seen my family that much this year.
My Mum and Aunt came up for two days for my graduation, but I haven’t seen anybody else since January, so I think it’s safe to say I am long overdue a trip back home.
CLEAR OUT OUR BEDROOMS
Although we only moved in 4 months ago out bedrooms have already started to get filled with junk! We have a two bedroom flat, one which is our main bedroom, and the other which has turned into the junk room.
We are nearly finished with our main bedroom, just need to buy a few more bits and bobs to complete the homely feel. But it still needs a good clear out. – I had no idea that boys could have more clothes than girls!
As for the spare/junk room, it is actually going to be transformed into a mini office for me. We just need to get rid of a sofa that is currently taking up the majority of the room.
REVAMP MY BLOG AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Working full-time in social media has made me realise the importance of branding and brand image. This is why I want to give my blog a bit of a revamp, and also sort out my social media.
Now I’m not talking about Instagram themes but more the overall brand image of Just Emmi and the corresponding social media accounts. I want people to be able to tell that it’s all connected and not just my little side project that gets shared on Twitter and Facebook every now and again.
