6 Mid Year Goals

Mid year goals - justemmi.comI’m not going to start this post off by saying how fast the year is going and OMG how is it already July.

I will however say that the past 7 months have been very eventful with everything happening all at once. Moving out, finishing university, starting a new job, even relaunching this blog back in January.

Now we’re into July and life is slowing down giving me the time to reflect on my goals for the year and re-evaluate them – because let’s be honest the goals we make in January rarely make it past Easter.

The goals I set in January includes, setting individual goals every month, going outside more often, being more active on social media, declutter and keep it that way, make my life healthier and to write more.

I have done some of these but not as much as I would have liked. This is because my life has changed over the past few months and these goals aren’t necessarily all that realistic anymore. So instead, here are my new mid-year goals.


I swear something about the gym, or exercise or being healthier/losing weight tends to be on everybody’s goal list. But this time I have actually paid for a gym membership so I kinda need to go in order not to be wasting money every month.


The reason I need to go to the gym now I’ve paid for it is because we need to save money. We’ve just moved into our new flat together and there are bills and expenses and dentist charges and food to buy. It’s a lot of money when you add it up and we still need to save in order to do things like go out, buy things for the flat etc. I usually just transfer money over at the end of the month but this time I’ve set up a standing order so I always have something going into our savings account.


In January I said I wanted tot write more and I think I’ve achieved this by setting up a blog schedule for 3 posts a week – very hard to keep up at the moment due to work. But instead of writing more I want to focus on writing about real stuff.

I want to focus on topics that we all go through at some point in our lives rather than lists or fashion and beauty. I want to get into some more sensitive topics that I feel need to be spoken about more than what they already are.


I have never gotten into the whole Instagram game and no matter how hard I’ve tried it’s not been a platform that has worked for me. I’ve done the whole upload every day idea and something always happens and I no longer like the photo and don’t want to upload it anymore. But now I want to kick Insta’s ass! I love taking photos, even if I have no clue what I’m doing half the time, but I want to get better at it. I want to have a massive bank of photos for my Insta, and I’m also thinking about creating a feed theme…


Since moving into our little flat we have been so busy. I’ve started a new job and we’ve been decorating or shopping most weekends. During the week we are both shattered and the weekends is full of going places and seeing people. We haven’t really had time for our relationship, let alone a date night, and to me this is so important. I want to set aside more time in the week dedicated just to us. No social media, no going shopping or trips to see Mum. Time for us to be a proper couple.


As an ex book blogger I feel so ashamed of myself saying that I haven’t read a single book this year! I know how bad is that. It’s a good thing I stopped with that blog. But despite not blogging about books anymore I do still enjoy reading I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ve picked up a few but never finished them so I think it’s time to kick my arse into gear.
