The essentials you need in your bag at a blogger event

Getting invited to blogger and PR events is so exciting, especially if you haven’t been to many in the past. But if you are like me, the excitement might overwhelm you which can end up leading to forgetfulness.

This is why I have decided to create an almost checklist-like post of things you must remember to take with you to any blogger or PR event. (But also for my own reference)

Batteries and chargers: If you don’t take a spare camera battery or a some sort of phone charger then you are playing with fire. My phone runs out of battery half way through a standard day so I know it won’t last at an event where I’ll be posting on social media constantly. Get yourself a really good portable charge, there are so many online for pretty decent prices. If you are taking a camera then always pack a spare battery, and SD card if you are planning on filming. You never know how much space you will need.

Cash and card: I can’t remember the last time I only took cash out with me. I mainly use my card everywhere I go because it is quick and easy. But with events you never know how much money you might en up spending and whether or not they will have card payment options available. Also if you decide to get the bus or a taxi home having some spare cash on you is always going to be handy.

A pen: It doesn’t matter what event it is or what you are doing for that matter.Even if you are just going to the cinema, always and I mean always have a pen in your bag. The amount of times I have been asked if I have a pen. It is such a small simple item that can make you look really organised when you whip it out of your bag and present it to the person in question. “Why yes, I do have a pen” you might say. “Oh how organised you are” they might reply. – Probably not, but still always pack a pen.

Business cards: Ok so you don’t have to be this organised and have business cards made with all your contact details on them. But it does help. Handing over a business card instead of writing your info down on a piece of paper is a lot more professional. Plus you never know when one business card could lead to a job – People are more likely to keep a business card for future reference than a scrap of paper.

Mints/chewing gum: Ok so this is a werid one but first impressions are a big deal so making sure you have some form of mouth freshener in your bag is a good idea. The last thing you want is to smell like the burger you had for lunch. Plus offering chewing gum or mints to others is a great way to make friends. Everybody loved that kid at school who always had gum.

Lipstick: Again, not an essential but if you are one to wear make-up then keep your lippy in your bag. You never know when you might need to top it up, especially if you are around other bloggers who will no doubtedly be taking photos. – Don’t want to get caught out.

I’d love to know what your must haves are for when you go to a blogger or PR event.

I’ve been meaning to get my own business cards, but don’t know what I should put on it. I also don’t know how I should design the layout! I would love if you made a post about your own business cards xxx

Pens! So useful but disappear as quick as hair slides! I always bring a spare charger. Be prepared!
