Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of posts going around about daily routines, and bettering yourself. I have to admit that they have kind of inspired me to think about my day to day life and what I want to change about it.
So I decided to write it all down in the hope that I will have to hold myself accountable if I don’t actually do any of it.
Early to bed, early to rise: My body clock is based on two things. How many episodes on Netflix I want to watch and what time I am meant to be in university the next day. I rarely wake up at the save time every day or go to sleep at the same time for that matter. I do want to get into the habit of having a bedtime and a wake-up time. Mainly because I like things to be organised in my life, but also because I am sick of wasting the day in bed and missing breakfast.
Take lunch: I am so bad at remembering to make lunch the night before and take it with me to work so I don’t end up spending out on junk food. This is also the same thing with coffee and tea. I want to get back into the habit of making a hot drink in my flask before I leave so I don’t end up paying Costa and Starbucks prices.
Cleansing: I try so hard to look after my skin and on the weekend I do have a routine, but during the week when I wake up late I don’t bother to cleanse and moisturise at all. I have always been one to use skincare products and I want to get back into the morning and evening routine I have done for years.
Steps and gym: As a Fitbit lover I do try to meet my step goal but as a journalism student I spend many hour sat down, when in turn has meant I haven’t been meeting my step goals. Over the summer I was doing 15,000 steps a day minimum and going to the gym on top of that. Compared to by 7,000 steps a day and gym once a week routine at the moment. It’s time to get my arse in gear.
Theory test: If you didn’t know I am currently learning to drive which means I should be practising my theory every day in preparation for a test which I should have booked by now, but nope. This putting it off over here. But I am determined to change that and set aside an hour every night to practice my driving theory.
Reading: I am a self-declared bookworm and I used to get through a book a day. I even had a book blog at one point. But things just got too much and the next thing I know I just don’t want to read at all. But with a bookcase full of unread books staring at me every day I have decided I want to get back into reading before bed, instead of staying up all night watching TV.
Take care of me: I’m not a pamper person but sometimes it’s nice to just sit and paint your nails, moisturise and just have some time to feel good about yourself. I’m that person who buys face masks but never used them. I want to be the person that buys a face mask and uses it. Even if it is just once a week I take some time for me, it will be time well spent.
Let me know what your daily routine is like and what you want to add to it, or remove from it in the future.
