I got my Fitbit Alta around 6 months ago now, for my birthday. Since then I have rarely taken it off and I feel lost without it.
For those of you asking what is a Fitbit and what makes it so great, let me elaborate…
A FitBit is an activity tracker, depending on the model you get, it will track your steps, active minutes, sleep, calories, heart rate and more.
The Fitbit Alta is one of the lower price point trackers and therefore doesn’t go as far at to track your heart rate or connect to your phone to tell you if you got a text. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t amazing!
As somebody who cares about their health but isn’t a complete gym bunny I wanted to keep on top of how much I was moving and eating and this has worked wonders for me.
An overall picture: Since wearing my Fitbit over the past 6 months I have become more aware of what is going in and out of my body. Like anybody I knew I ate some bad foods once in awhile but by tracking what I eat and drink it really made me want to change what I put into my body. It also made me realise how much I actually do move during the week – and how little I move on the weekends.
Motivation: With the added feature of challenges and badges to collect it really got me going and wanting to move more and be healthier. When one of my friends get a Fitbit it just sparks this up again because you want to challenge them every week. My Fitbit has also made me feel pretty proud of some of the things I can achieve and it has made me look at myself in a very different, but more positive light.
The details: When I input my water and food on a daily basis I get clear statistics and data about what I am putting into my body. As somebody who wants to be healthier and lose weight this is great because I can see exactly what type of foods I should be eating more or less of.
There are some downfalls to my Fitbit such as how the rubber band can become dirty quite easily and how it isn’t waterproof – but there is a new model out which is waterproof and the bands are easily cleaned.
I would highly recommend a Fitbit to anybody would is interested in their health and tracking their activity. If you have a FitBit then feel free to comment below and I will add you as a friend.
