My winter skincare essentials

www-justemmi-com-5With the weather getting colder I thought I would share some of my essential skincare items I use to help keep things in working order at winter.

I’m not calling this a skincare routine because as a student I wake up, get dressed and dash to lectures so I rarely stick to a regiment day and night. Some of these products I will use every, if not most days and others are things I use when problems start popping up.

clean and clear blackhead scrub

Clean and Clear Blackhead Clearing daily scrub (Boots £3.75)During the winter months using an exfoliating face wash to get rid of dead skin is so important. I recently started using the Clean and Clear range and so far it is giving me great results. The oil-free base of the scrub leaves me skin feeling clear from dirt but not sticky.

Clean and Clear Dual Action moisturiser (Boots £3.25):  If I don’t do anything else in the morning then I will always make sure I moisturise. I have really dry skin and this as you can imagine gets worse as the months get colder. What I like about this moisturiser is that it is oil-free like the daily scrub which reduces the amount of spots I get as some moisturisers can lead me to break out.

Lip Balm: I honestly don’t know what I would do without my Nivea Soothe and Protect (Boots £2.70) and Neutrogena Lip Care (Boots £2.17) lip balms. I always have one in my bag and one on my desk and they work wonders. I suffer from chapped lips on a good day, and when it gets cold and windy I get those lovely red sores around my lips from the cold dry weather. Keeping these bad boys to hand has helped reduce the redness and keep my lips in tip top condition. I have never used up a whole lip balm before and both of these are reaching their end.

Hand Cream: Hand cream is brilliant all year round but I try to use it more in the winter because I always forget to wear my gloves. I was given a Dove hand cream for Christmas last year in a gift set and it is my favourite thing ever. It leaves your hands feeling super soft and smelling beautiful. Sadly I cannot find it online so it might just be a Christmas exclusive.

Clinique All About Eyes de-puffing serum (Boots £24): This is a bit of a weird one. I wouldn’t call this an essential but it is a miracle worker! I try to stay in bed as long as possible in the winter so looking bright eyed and bushy tailed is even harder than normal. This eye serum is well worth the money and helps to reduce redness and puffy eyes which is great for someone who stays up late like me. I’ve had mine for well over a year now and still have loads left.

What are your go to products in the winter months? Are there any essentials I have missed out that I should try?
